Sound System culture, sun glistening beaches, the rowdiest of boat parties, an abandoned fort that comes to life all night long, and a 1500-year-old roman Colosseum. This is just a mere taste of what the powerful Outlook Festival has to offer, and if you go searching you’ll find SO much more. In order to tribute the celebrations of the 10 year anniversary of Outlook, we give you our top 10 artists.
Outlook Festival 2017 is shaping up to be one of the best to date and is only a few months away now. All of us at DNBDOSE are big supporters of Sound System culture as well as the underground bass music scene in general, and if you are like minded, you will not want to miss this Festival! This year’s lineup features some of our favorites in the scene, featuring amazing artists, producers and MC’s from across the globe. To add even more to the experience, it is the 10-year anniversary of Outlook, so you just know that this one is going to be one for the books.
As there is so much to be excited about, we’ve decided to shine the light on our top ten producers and some of their tracks that you will be sure to hear at Outlook.
First off, we start with the mighty Alix Perez and his track ‘Shadows’ featuring Strange U. Starting off dark and atmospheric, Perez shows his heavier side of producing on this massive roller. Strange U accents the dark vibe perfectly with his vocals, and the bassline comes in with a punch to the chest you can’t help but move your head to. Turn your subs on for this filthy, filthy tune.
Next up is “Mr. Natural” by Calibre, off his most recent album “The Deep”. This track gives me goosebumps every time we hear it. It starts off with perfectly rolling drums and keys that will be stuck in your head for days. When it drops the stunning vocal comes in over the drums, keys and smooth bassline that all fits together too perfectly. Calibre really shows his soul in this one and we can’t get enough.
Mefjus’ remix of “Sunday Crunk” by Ivy lab is one almost everyone has heard in the dance by now. This track come’s in with some funky productions and half time vibes. Great twist on the original. Always one to be sure to get a rewind. We love both the original and the Ivy Lab remix so we obviously have to include both.
“MCR” by the rudebwoys Sam Binga and Chimpo. Besides these two both being outstanding producers on their own, together they are always sure to bring nothing but top-notch tracks that will always light up the dance. “MCR” has the perfect mix of those 808 basslines, trap style drum work, and to top it off the one and only Trigga on the vocals.
Next, we have the one and only Dj Marky with his VIP of “Silly”. This track brings nothing but summertime beach vibes, and is one we are really hoping to hear at Outlook. The r&b style vocals over the rolling breaks and smooth bassline shows Dj Marky to not only be an amazing Dj but an outstanding producer. It’s just one of those tunes that can turn around even the worst of days you’ve been having, trust us. Smiles all around on this one, truly one of our favorites.
Badmon Xtrah comes in with his track “Purple Skies” off his recent “Disturbance” EP. Xtrah always attracts our attention with his dark, atmospheric sounds mixed with his heavy hitting basslines. This tune is no different, with a bassline that basically sounds like a heavy processed kick drum that just fits so well. It’s hard not to go wild for this one. Don’t forget to listen to that second drop. If you don’t know this one, you may be living under a rock.
Next we look at artists of a different scope than we’re normally used to at DNBDOSE; Grime Music. “Skeng” by The Bug, Flowdan and Killa P is a grime/dub instant classic that always gets the crowd hype. This is one of the first tracks we heard by The Bug and instantly was hooked. Heavy, deep bassline. Half time drums and those vocals you’ll have stuck in your head for days. Outlook is looking amazing for Grime music and these 3 are a few artists you will not want to miss.
Shy Fx comes in with “On The Run” off of “Diary Of A Digital Soundboy”. This one is another track that reminds us of those much needed summertime vibes; smiling faces and pure vibes. A classic jungle sounding track with that bit crushed 808 bass and rolling breaks. David Boomah truly adds a magical touch to this tune with his unique voice and great lyrical ability, we junglists can all relate to! Be sure to vibe to this one on those days by the beach.
Dis dis ko ko rekahhhhh. The mighty Loefah brings his dubstep classic “Disko Rekah” released on the legendary DEEP MEDI label. The tune starts out quite simply with Loefahs’ signature drums that will be sure to have your head bobbing, catchy vocal cuts, and then all of a sudden, you’re hit with a deep bassline that knocks the wind outta’ you (in the best way possible). Every dubstep fan should know this track, Loefah never fails to deliver as a producer and a dj.
Last but certainly not least is Skeptical with “Desire” featuring Collette Warren. This track features smooth and soothing piano melodies and r&b style vocals, but don’t let that fool you. It drops deep down to the darker side of DNB when that rolling bassline hits unexpectedly. Skeptical is truly a master of creating his own unique sound with incredible production value. The chorus effect layered on the bassline accentuates the vocals perfectly. Simple put, exquisite quality production on this track.
We are all very excited for this amazing experience featuring the best in sound systems and underground bass culture in the world. Not to mention it all takes place in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Much love and hope to see you out at Outlook Festival 2017!
